Riding on

I once thought I was a lost soul,
I kept trying to find my home.
I saw endless and sleepless nights,
with no place to rest my bones.
Through the darkness I walked,
Oh how they warned me not to go
But I kept pushing that stone
And I kept on, riding on.

All my life I felt them on my back.
I thought they’d all understand in time.
I didn’t want this life and the life they all lived.
What I really wanted was already mine.
So I kept to myself never letting no-one in.
Alone I bared my blood and my song.
I just kept on pushing that stone…
And I kept on, riding on.

So now as death creeps up on me
I’m lying back singing as I’ve always done.
I haven’t changed a single piece of me
I’ll be who I am when my time comes.
I found myself doing what I love
Found Life, a wife, a son and my home.
And I keep on pushing on,
And I keep on, riding on…
